Who Did The Theme Music For The Boffomundo Show?
The most frequently asked question.
Arti + Mestieri (Arts & Crafts) were an Italian prog band. The theme song is called Nove Lune Dopo, from the 1975 album, Giro di valzer per domani (Waltz Tour Tomorrow). In the video I mistakenly said Mescal was the tune. A fan wrote back to correct my error. Their previous album, Tilt from 1974 is more hard edged and equally brilliant.

One interviewer back in '73 suddenly watched in horror and disbelief as Mr. Fripp put his hand on the interviewer's typewritten sheets with notes and questions, slid them towards him, and started reading from them with mechanical voice. It went on for ages like some kind of nightmare, leaving the interviewer gasping for air and feeling utterly humiliated. But in the end he realized this was just Robert Fripp being Robert Fripp

I wonder why this was filmed or taped in black and white in 1979. Strange. Also, Robert Fripp is dressed very conservatively for 1979 -- no polyester leisure suit, no shirt with a gigantic collar, no bell-bottom pants, no gold chains, just a suit that would have looked completely normal in the 1950s.

Geez... Adrian Belew's candor is soooo refreshing. He is careful here to not denigrate other types and industries of music; he maintains a positively grateful and humble sense of self-awareness that holds his ego in check. That is admirable, truly. I'll add that the interviewer has an enjoyable register throughout the interview. I enjoyed this interview over other interviews with Belew at this time.

I had a 74 Camaro in the early 80s, and an underdash 4-track pioneer/Craig 4-track player, that I converted to play at 7.5 IPS... people would ride an ignorant of what the deck was would say "oh wow! An 8-track?" I'd say yeah. It was in the car when I got it. I've never tried it. I think there's a few tapes in the glove box. One of them was a copy of lone rhino... that I copied at half speed on to ampex 406 studio master tape... the player was hooked to a quartet of Jensen triaxes, and dual JBL D140S, in a vented enclosure, that brought the 250-20hz into the car, with a duo of early mono block amps from craico, and the sound from Rhino would flood the car... like a pair of 300 watt headphones... like the sky cracked open and the future of music and fidelity had leaked into that pathetic muscle car... and I'd pull the tape out "yeah, sounds like ****!" Toss it out the window to shocked gasps... lolol.

It's so odd that I never knew who this mysterious enigma named Fripp was, from the albums. I had heard that he performed separate from the band, obscured with electronics, with a deficit of light on him... now he has weekly comedic segments with his wife and all these vintage interviews pop onto my screen. Still quite the enigma. Lol

No "progressive" band would ever like the progressive label. Never heard any of these bands accepting the definition. Genesis hated it (quite rghtly so, they were much more complete). Yes didn't like it and often diverted from "prog". ELP felt they were much better than that. King Crimson? They tried anything but "prog"... only minor bands felt they liked that label.
